Gridstore-Basic is the software component for warehouse management within the Gridstore warehouse system. It was specially developed to fulfil the requirements of modern, automated storage processes.
It handles tasks such as the management of article master data, stocks and orders as well as the control of bin movements in accordance with defined storage strategies such as FIFO, LIFO, BBD, etc. Gridstore-Basic provides all relevant information on storage, picking and other process steps via the workstation dialogues.
Advantages of Gridstore-Basic
Gridstore-Basic offers functions that have been specially developed for the operation of a Gridstore warehouse. The software supports you in controlling your warehouse processes and ensures seamless communication between the various system components. These advantages arise in practical use:
- Clearly structured workflows:
Gridstore-Basic supports picking, goods receipt and special processes with intuitive dialogues directly at the workstation.
- High storage density:
Different bin heights and up to sixteen compartments per bin enable space-saving storage, even for single-variety items.
- Multi-client capability for 3PL & multiple locations:
The software is multi-client capable and therefore also suitable for service providers in the third-party logistics (3PL) sector or for multi-site warehouse concepts.
- Reliable inventory management:
Continuous inventory updates ensure inventory security and support precise order management.
- Flexible system integration:
Gridstore-Basic can be seamlessly integrated into existing ERP and WMS structures and enables consistent data flows. At the same time, the software is scalable - new workstations, automation solutions such as AGVs or infrastructure expansions can be connected at any time.
Main features of Gridstore-Basic
The software is designed for integration into existing IT structures, in particular ERP and WMS systems, and forms the interface between warehouse management and company-wide processes.
Extensions to include additional workstations, automation components or complex process logic (e.g. separation of B2B and B2C orders) can be realised on a modular basis. Connections to other systems can also be realised with short project runtimes.

Basic functions
- Interface connection:
Gridstore-Basic offers a reliable connection to customer systems such as WMS or ERP. Functions such as article master data maintenance, order management and stock bookings can be integrated.
- Item and bin management:
The software enables the management of bins and articles with different heights and segmentation - up to sixteen compartments per bin are possible. This means that small parts or single-variety items, for example, can be stored efficiently in a very small space. The software also supports the management of batches, best-before dates (BBD) and clients as well as the allocation of packaging units (PU).
- Goods receipt and storage:
Control of goods receipt via workstation dialogues with assignment of bins and recording of the quantities entered. The actual storage is system-guided.
- Manual retrievals & special processes:
Gridstore-Basic processes incoming orders based on available stock and provides the necessary bins automatically. The integrated picking dialogue supports the picking process directly at the workstation with clear instructions on picking, quantity checking and order confirmation. Special orders or returns can also be processed manually and managed directly via the software. - System manager functions:
Management of workstations, prioritisation of orders and configuration of load carriers and interfaces.
Communication with Grid-Control
- Role Distribution:
Gridstore-Basic manages stock levels, orders and storage strategies. Grid-Control handles the physical execution (e.g. robot control).
- Data exchange:
Order data, putaway and picking instructions are transmitted from Gridstore-Basic to Grid-Control and executed there. Communication takes place automatically via a defined system interface.
Inventory & Control Functions
- Inventory data:
Item numbers are linked to inventory indicators. The data is continuously updated and can be used for flexible inventory strategies.
- Permanent Stock Control:
Gridstore-Basic automatically updates stock levels with every warehouse movement. This creates a permanent inventory, ensuring high stock accuracy at all times.
